Jan 01, 2023 Season 2 Episode 24

*Trigger* This episode discusses cannibalism.

“Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster.  And if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you”.  When researching a true-crime podcast, we often think of this quote by philosopher Frederich Nietzsche.  We do our best to not gaze for too long, but only glance.  What cried out to us about this case…or any case we cover?  It’s not just about the crime, but how it impacts us as a society.  The case we are going to discuss is about two people from different backgrounds on a proverbial collision course, and it forever changed the lives of those who witnessed it.  The victim, his family and the passengers were not given a choice…. They were forced to gaze into the abyss and to deal with its aftermath.  We will also discuss why the Canadian Criminal Justice system had no choice but to release the perpetrator of one of Canada’s most horrendous murders.  Welcome to Episode 23-  Into the Abyss: The Murder of Tim McLean.
